Presser:

Lee’s Summit, MO-On 07-18-08 at about 0939 hours officers of the Lee’s Summit Police Department were dispatched to the Eastglen 16 Theater located at 1451 NE Douglas Rd. on a subject who was recording the new Batman movie. Upon arrival officers were contacted by contract employees of the Motion Picture Association of America. They had caught a 40 year old Grandview resident video-taping the movie “The Dark Knight”.

The investigation at the scene confirmed the suspect was video-taping the movie and he was arrested.

I'm sure the bootleggers are caught every day, but I think this is the first time I've ever seen a PD send a presser out on it.

The real question: Is the MPAA rolling in so much dough that they can afford to send "contract employees" to a random movie theater in Lee's Friggin' Summit, Mo.? Who are they, and how do they catch the evil terrorist bootleggers? Now that would be a report I'd watch.

Probably a slow news day.

NS Cat Up A Pole

Source: BN - The Canadian Press - Broadcast wire
Jul 16 06:37
WEST DOVER, N.S. _ Nova Scotia Power crews rescued a cat that spent four days just centimetres from 12-thousand-volt power lines. _

The utility fielded about 35 calls over the four days the cat named Boxer was perched on top of the pole, in West Dover near Peggy's Cove.

After several people tried to coax the cat down, power was shut off and a technician went up in the boom of a truck with treats in hand.

He scooped up the frightened feline and brought him down to safety.

Agreed. That's the real story. How many of these "contract employees" are hired by the MPAA, and how widespread is this program?
